This is a historic cottage that once was on PCH.
It has been modified to add some modern features (Jacuzzi, etc), still remaining quaint.
Due to restructuring of the rooms, the layout is a bit unusual: The entrance is into the kitchen, then master bedroom, then hallway and all other rooms. 
It is best suited for one family, close friends, or business travelers.

The Space:

A historic cottage, with beautiful landscaping and a peaceful, large (by California standards) back yard.

Great for meditating.

Guest Access:

Whole second floor unit/apartment.
Shared Back yard with bbq grill (stand-alone grill is for guest), bar counter, fridge, picnic area, fireplace, basketball net, etc.

Other Things To Note:

SOME VERY IMPORTANT DETAILS BEFORE YOU BOOK (thank you for reading):

1) The BASE NIGHTLY RATE we charge for the apartment is for a TWO-PERSON OCCUPANCY only. There is an additional charge for EACH additional person.
For example: if the base price you see is $85 per night, that means it is for 1-2 persons only. You will notice that if you change the number of occupants from 2 to 3, the price increases (could be $35 per person per night, depending on the season), and changes again each time you add a person to the guest list. 
This has been done intentionally, to make the pricing fair and comparable to other facilities that would accommodate the same number of persons.
If we charge $155 per night (for example) for the whole apartment, that would discourage 2 persons from booking, because all they need is one room and bath, why should they pay for more rooms when they would not be using them. We want to encourage couples, or 1-2 persons, from coming here, so we keep the base price low.

The purpose of this NOTE is to stress that you MUST put the CORRECT NUMBER of ADULTS that plan to use the unit when you are booking. DO NOT PUT “2” when more than 2 are planning to use the apartment. Not putting the correct number of persons on the original booking may have serious consequences later.

2) DO NOT MOVE FURNITURE AROUND:
 This may seem trivial, but we have had to replace furniture due to guests moving them around and causing damage to them… the furniture is brand new and we want it to stay in good condition for future guests.

Some spaces are shared – Back yard to share with me…I hardly use it, only for maintenance

The Neighborhood:

Mary’s home is located in Huntington Beach, California, United States.
This is a very quiet residential neighborhood. It is becoming gentrified and you will notice new construction of tall-and-skinny million-dollar contemporary homes mixed in with the old one story ranches.

Parking:

There is plenty of street/curb parking in front of the house or anywhere on the street. There are no parking meters.

Getting Around:

You can walk downtown, to the beach, the pier, the new Pacific City shopping center with its numerous restaurants…all are 15 minute walks, or a 5 minute car ride. If you drive, you will probably have to pay to park downtown. There is one large parking deck and parking meters near the beach. Our cottage is not close enough to the the beach to have parking meters.
